Meeting Noah

I am so happy to introduce my grandson Noah, born Dec 15, 2011.  This picture is of my first meeting with him on December 28.

10-12-27-21-30-16H

Noah is a very alert fellow as you can see and we had a nice chat.  He is concentrating on getting bigger every day and soon we hope he will be able to come home to his mom and dad.

His daddy had to leave us today to fly back to Africa where they live and work.  When Noah is able to leave the hospital I will fly with my daughter and him to Africa, along with a stroller, a new bassinet, and a suitcase of preemie clothes!

This is our first grandchild and I am just becoming aware of what grandmas are supposed to do and not supposed to do.  I would appreciate any helpful hints on the subject, particularly on how to be a good long-distance grandma.  Please share your insights.

I am joining up with Rebecca on her Friday Favorite Photo blog.  I am happy to share my new favorite photo subject!

Thoughts on being a long distance grandma ... wow! Where do I begin? Make sure your passport is up to date ... save airmiles ...spoil the mom when you visit ... send packages ... send cards ... did I mention to send packages and pray. congratulaions... all the best. I'm sure you'll do well .... but it's hard to be so far away.

Congratulations. Thoughts from me on being a far away grandmother, let them know your voice even now, talk to them via phone, webcam and send lots of pics and request many more. Then when they come to visit they are not strangers. Also take home a small item of clothing with their smell on it, worth loads when you are missing their cuddles. Much Love to you and your new grandson. x

Aaah! he is so cute! I am sure you are going to be a wonderful Grandma. Just be yourself, and never, ever say "In my day we did so-and so......"!!

Have a wonderful time out in Africa when you go. Meanwhile, make the most of Noah!
